09/09/2023. I packed 🧳 & the husband & his friend picked up delicious 😋 😋😋 Indian food from Apna Bazar. I watered all the inside plants including the phalaeonopsis, the outside plants, and filled the fountain ⛲️basins. The husband took me for a nice walk around the ‘hood (a 3 dog 🐶 walk 🎊🥳🎉) (steps = 6.4K). Pelton is now clean 🎊🥳🎉 & ready to rent!

09/08/2023. I backed up the computer, iPhone, & iPad. The husband & his friend had dinner at the Alpine Inn and brought me delicious 😋 cole slaw & pretzel 🥨. I sent out the 2 lease attachments to my rental agent.
09/07/2023. I FT’d with my sister & she advised me that we leave on Sunday, not Saturday. The husband & I called our friend & told him to go ahead & come on Friday. Then I left for my pre-op appointment: knee x-rays, instructions, urine, blood & EKG. The PA told me that they do not use general anaesthesia so that worry was all for naught! There is a lot of information that the PA gave me that I will summarize tomorrow. The husband took me for a nice walk around the ‘hood (steps = 5.8K).

09/06/2023. We had a “Zoom” call with our sister / sister-in-law. Unfortunately she told me that anaesthesia can hurt the older brain. I looked it up & it is true! I shopped at Safeway & CVS for a card for the husband’s birthday. I decided not to go to club tonight, just too much going on in my head! I updated the Pelton financials and all of the rest of my financials. I paid 3 Pelton bills too.
09/05/2023. I watered all the plants and got ready for the cleaners. I was happily surprised to see one of our previous cleaners here! The house looks great. PG&E reconnected the gas at Pelton & some of the repairs were completed. I really missed my friend today 😢😢😢😢😢!
I talked to my friend who also had surgery from my orthopedic surgeon & shopped at Wal-Mart.
09/04/2023. I wrote out the cleaning check list for the cleaners at Pelton. I also updated the “Move-in/move-out” checklist & cleaning checklists for the lease.
09/03/2023. Happy birthday 🎉🎊🥳🍹 to my sister. I called her & sang Happy Birthday 🎼🎶 to her. The husband took me for a nice hike in the hills (steps = 4.9K). I cleaned up some of my e-mail.
Sadly, my long-time friend passed away today. I will miss her always.
09/02/2023. The termite tent was removed this morning & all the locks 🔒 changed at Pelton. I made a Happy Birthday card for my sister & posted it. I also fixed one of our toilets that was “whistling”. The husband and I shopped at Costco & worked on cc receipts 🧾 . We also gave some advice to our neighbor on his large valve replacement project. The husband announced to him “my wife is an expert at this 🤪”. It was fun to see his project and to not be the one doing it 👍.
09/01/2023. I was very tired today. I ordered flowers from my great-niece’s boyfriend’s Mom. She runs a flower shop near my sister. My sister really liked them. I watered all the indoor plants. I did some returns at Ace Hardware & also dropped off unused paint.
I drove downtown to view the FF goings on. I searched for a dishwasher & didn’t find any with decent ratings so I’m going to have the existing one repaired.
08/31/2023. I drove over to Santa Cruz to deal with the lost key situation. I was there at 9:15 am per request of the termite folks. However, once I was there, the termite folks told me they wouldn’t be there until noon. I went to to the Santa Cruz Home Depot & purchased a lock box, picked up the smoke detectors & CO alarms, reset the lockbox code, and installed it. I checked around inside and nothing was disturbed. The dishwasher works, it just needed to be plugged in. I waited until the termite folks arrived. I also introduced myself to the neighbors across the street, exchanged contact information, and asked them to watch over the place for me. I met another neighborhood and exchanged contact information with her too. I gardened, pulling out mostly ivy in the front yard.
I had a wonderful walk 🥾 along West Cliff Drive (steps = 11.4K). It was a gorgeous day! There were a lot of doggies out that I petted! On the way home, I picked up food for the husband & I at Las Palmas. No one else was there, first time ever! I stopped at Costco to gas ⛽️ up and got home around 5 pm, a long day!

08/30/2023. I received a call from the termite folks that they could not find the key anywhere. After many phone 📞 calls & much searching I’ve determined that it’s either lost or stolen.
I went to Ace hardware to buy some concealing stones, however, I’m now going to purchase a lock box.
I also shopped at Crossroads for Tarallini & got the husband burrito at his favorite place.
08/29/2023. The husband & drove to Santa Cruz, Pelton. He cleaned out the garage, I took pictures, fixed a few things, & got it ready for tenting. I discovered that the dishwasher doesn’t work, yet another issue! I FT’d my sister & investigated the dishwasher with my brother-in-law.
08/28/2023. I had a wonderful hike with our hiking 🥾 group at Rancho (steps = 12.8K). We had coffee ☕️ & a maple scone at Peet’s and I shopped at TJ’s. I had our FF meeting at Dogma, wrote up the meeting minutes, and sent them out. We had a meeting with our insurance agent to sort out some things & I confirmed an item with our travel agent.

08/27/2023. I had a lovely conversation with my cousin, cleaned up the office, with my husband’s help, washed clothes, and watered the phalaenopsis. I sent out the agenda for tomorrow’s FF meeting.

08/26/2023. My sister & I finalized our air fare for the Taulk river cruise 🚢 in 2024. I saw my wonderful hairdresser 💇🏻♀️ and shopped at TJ’s. The husband took me for a lovely late afternoon walk (steps = 6K). I did a deep dive search 🔦🔎 for my old passport & gratefully found it 🎉🎊🥳!
I updated the financials & paid a few bills 💸 for the Pelton rehab & backed up the computer 💻.
08/25/2023. I did some emergency updates to the FF web sites. The husband took me for a nice walk around the ‘hood (steps =5.4K) & I got to pet 2 dogs 🐶 .
One was a gorgeous husky, named Paul & his pet parent told me he was very happy to be petted as indicated by his wagging tail! I also paid two invoices 🧾 for Pelton & did some financial analysis. I updated the Pelton cost spreadsheet also. We had take out at Apnar Bazaar, so delicious 😋! The husband & I tied up the Nandina with camoflauge colored rope so it looks a lot better than the bright yellow one did. I also filled up both fountains & washed my soaked overalls. I had a nice shower 🚿🧼 too!
08/24/2023. I picked up my order of sprinkler heads at Lowe’s and purchased some other items. I did some returns at the nearby Home Depot and then back to Lowe’s to return something I just purchased (two hours)! The husband fixed delicious vegetarian chili with rice & quinoa 😋!
08/23/2023. We had a “Zoom” call with our sister / sister-in-law, and I studied the Plus calls. It was my turn for “square-head” duty so I arrived early. It was pretty straight forward & I had a great time dancing! Also, we had 35 students attend our introductory class & as the publicity person, that is a relief 😅! I drove a friend home after club.
All the plumbing is complete at Pelton: two new toilets installed, new stainless steel kitchen sink & pull down faucet installed, & a drain cleared!

08/20/2023. I packed up and we drove to Santa Cruz. Although the place looks much better, it still smells. I took pictures & did a bit of gardening. We had a great walk along West Cliff drive (steps = 12K). We were all set to have Mexican food at Las Palmas and found out that it is closed on Sundays 😭😭😭😭! We filled up with gas ⛽️ at Costco & hit heavy traffic on the way home. We never did find out why. I talked to my nephew & to my sister (twice). I called her from Pelton to let her know how disappointed I am!

08/18/2023. I checked on the transfer of our insurance policies to our new broker & found a problem. We got it resolved. I installed the new sprinkler heads, an easy project except for the inevitable wet clothes. I washed & dried the gardening clothes. Our nephew is feeling much better 🎊🎉🥳!
08/17/2023. I made the reservations for the Rhine river cruise with my sister and brother-in-law. We got some EXCELLENT news regarding my nephew's eye from his eye specialist. The specialist thinks that both eyes can be treated using the cross-linking procedure and not the cornea transplant procedure. I did a lot of coordination on Pelton today. The floors aren't going in exactly as I want, but that is OK. The hall bathroom floor was supposed to be demo'd and replaced and it was not and there is a problem with the laundry room closet too. I scheduled the termite tenting.

We shopped at the Home Depot for some sprinkler supplies and lo and behold the "nanny" state banned the sprinkler heads that I've been using for years. I have to replace them because the squirrels chewed on them and as a result I lost a rose bush.
We also shopped at Kohl's and the husband selected some sweat pants for the winter (gray of course 🤣🤣🤣).
I FT'd with my sister and we decided not to go on the Rhine trip. For me, the cost is $20K)! Instead we may go to Washington DC.

08/14/2023. I walked with my friends at Rancho and there were 5 of us today (steps = 13K). We had coffee and a brownie at Peet's and I shopped at TJ's. I fixed some sprinkler system heads but ran out of Teflon tape and the right kind of heads. I will buy tomorrow. I also washed clothes.

08/10/2023. I sent out the minutes for the FF meeting & photoshopped the FF logo. I picked up some hot and sour soup from Chef Chu’s for my friend and visited her; that soup is her favorite. She is VERY sick 😢😢😢. The friend who is staying with her said that she was having a good day today, so I was very fortunate and she loved the soup! I also dropped off the Amazon return at Kohl’s. I also talked with my sister.

08/08/2023. I had a nice shower 🚿🧼 , and watered all the plants 🪴. I got all the supplies ready for the cleaners & then got the word that they would not be coming today 🤪🤪🤪! We talked to our nephew who is dealing with a very serious eye disease. Afterwards, we shopped at Costco & scored lots of items on sale! The husband took me for a walk around the ‘hood (steps = 4.3K). It was still quite hot 🥵 today. I washed the throw rugs, mop covers and rags.
08/07/2023. I hiked with our hiking group & we had 5 of us there (steps = 11.6K). It was very hot 🥵 so three of us turned back at the duck pond instead of climbing up the hill.

I contacted my none endocrinologist about the knee surgery to assure that it was OK to proceed. I also called the knee doctor about an exercise bike & contacted the countertop folks about the sink for Pelton.
I spent many hours searching for a stainless steel sink for Pelton & finally located one that I like. I will call tomorrow to check on the delivery date.

08/04/2023. I made a list of all that I have to do prior to surgery & updated the FF web site. The husband took me for a short walk around the ’hood .
08/03/2023. I made an appointment for my knee replacement, September 19th. I topped off our two water fountains that were running very low of water.
I updated the FF web site. My friend is still not doing well & at this time she doesn't want visitors.
08/02/2023. I drove to Fremont for my appointment with Dr. Sah. It's a very efficiently run office. I saw 5 people throughout the process and met with Dr. Sah. Both of my knees require a knee replacement. He also looked at the x-rays of my femur and said an old screw was left behind, probably broke in the bone when they tried to remove it. Afte all the poking and prodding, my knees really hurt and I skipped attending club. I FT'd my sister and updated the FF web site.
08/01/2023. I picked up my friend and we attended a BYOF lunch hosted by my friend. It was wonderful. We stopped at "Smart and Final" so I could get desserts for the next party.
In the late afternoon, there was a neighborhood community event, hosted by my neighbor. We had live music and lots and lots of people turned out for the event. It was really fun!

07/31/2023. I was exhausted 🥱 & skipped hiking this am. The husband & I dropped off 4 boxes of school supplies to a realtor’s office who is collecting them for kids. I then attended the FF meeting, made a final decision on the quartz countertop install at Pelton, & FT’d with my sister. Our cousin is very sick. He has diabetes and is not watching his food intake. I washed clothes, updated the FF web site, and watered the phaeleonopsis.
One of the neighbors to whom we gave apples brought us this absolutely delicious 😋 apple crisp. The first time we brought her apples she made us apple lemon squares that were also delicious 😋!
07/30/2023. The husband wanted to get things done today so we picked a tree of apples 🍏 and distributed them to 6 neighbors. We also shopped at Costco.

07/29/2023. I had a I had a nice shower 🧼🚿 and attended a birthday party for one of my square dancing friends. The party was hosted outdoors at a 2 acres estate with fabulous grounds. They have two full time gardeners and one of them gave us a tour of his very elaborate composting operation.
Our caller taught a tip also, very fun! I also wrote the birthday girl a Chat GPT poem & illustrated it with clipart.
I'm still struggling with the decision on selecting the countertop installation vendor.
I shopped at Safeway updated the FF website.

07/27/2023. I had the A/C inspection for permit today and City Water Filter here to replace our water filters. It was very expensive for something I can easily do myself.

I visited the Daltile showroom and selected a slab I really like. I also visited Tile and Stone Central to select one of their countertops. I'm waiting for everyone's bid. I got gas at Costco since I was in the area and I FT'd with my sister.

07/25/2023. I had a nice shower 🧼🚿, watered the plants, & got the house ready for the cleaning folks. It looks great. I washed the rags and other supplies. I also FT’d with my sister and looked up State Farm agents. Most unfortunately, our fabulous agent is retiring. There is a problem with fitting a 4 “ backsplash on the countertop & some electrical plugs will need to be moved.

The husband was very upset to discover that someone had taken both of the big boxes of apples & the boxes they were in 😢😢😢. So much for honesty & sharing.
07/22/2023. I washed 3 loads of clothes because I hadn’t washed after our return from Sonoma. The husband took me for a nice walk around the ‘hood. I called another person to give me a bid on the countertops. I binge-watched “The Partner Track” on Netflix.
07/21/2023. The husband took me for a nice walk around the ‘hood. We took the old television and several other items to recycling and took the large box it came in to another recycling place. We had the girls across the street over to help us pick apples 🍏 & we picked 2 boxes. The husband put them out on the street for walkers. I received one of the countertop bids & it came in very high!
07/20/2023. I had a wonderful lunch at Hobees with my long time friend. She helped me with Pelton, suggesting I install quartz countertops in the kitchen. I’ve already contacted two installers who will provide me with bids. After lunch, I ate too many chocolates 😳! I FT’d with my sister & finished watching season 2, part 1 of “The Lincoln Lawyer”. I also created yet another flyer for the fair.

07/18/2023. The husband & I drove to Santa Cruz today. We got the sample flooring from Bonny so we could see it with the new paint. The husband helped me a LOT today! It’s coming together and still feels like it won’t be very nice when I’m finished 🥺🫣🫤! We had a wonder dinner at Las Palmas. Their food is unbelievably delicious 😋! I updated the FF web site & also updated the spreadsheet where I’m tracking the Pelton expenditures.

07/16/23. Happy birthday 🎂🎈🎁 to my dear cousin. The husband & I had breakfast at our hotel, then left for our cousin-in-laws house. She hosted a beautiful “after the wedding” brunch for all of us out of town-ers. We got on the road at 12:15, stopped for gas ⛽️ at Costco and was home by 2:15 pm. We visited our neighbors to give them a fence for their master tortoise 🐢 escape artist “Shelby”. Then the husband & two daughters came over for a tour of our yard. I gave the husband some more scented geranium cuttings. The husband was happy to see our kitties & they were happy to see him! I watered the phaeleonopsis.
07/15/2023. I took myself for a lovely walk around Sonoma (steps = 7K). & found the pathways! Of course there were lots of dogs that needed petting by me 🤣🤣🤣! Then we got ready for the wedding & drover over to the shuttle pickup location. Unfortunately, it was 95 degrees 🥵. The wedding was beautiful & meticulously planned by the bride 👰🏻♀️ (my second cousin) and her mom. The food was delicious, there was a fun Photo Booth, rocks to paint, and a place to write down words of advice for the bride & groom. The food was delicious with wonderful desserts too! I got to visit with lots of people’s & our mist-Dr fans were very helpful!
07/14/2023. I got up early, packed, & we left for Sonoma. I drove most of the way. I attended the “meet & greet” pizza 🍕 party at the central plaza. It was lovely, in spite of the 99 degree weather! The husband stayed at the hotel 🏨 to rest.
07/13/2023. I had a nice shower and visited my hairdresser 💇🏻♀️. I shopped at the Crossroads to buy10 bags of Taralli for my sister & brother-in-law. I did a major upgrade to the FF website, wrote a poem for the new bride & groom & started to pack.
07/12/2023. I attended a FF meeting at 1 pm. I studied the Plus calls & attended club. It was “celebrate the 4th” theme so most dancers were in red, white, & blue. The dance was great fun 🤩 & drove a friend home afterwards.

07/10/2023. I walked at Rancho with the group, there were four of us (steps = 14K). We had coffee at Peet’s, & I shopped at TJ’s. I updated the instructions for our cat sitter. My project manager in Santa Cruz determined that someone has been getting into the house & using the bathroom. He went over & secured all the windows. I ordered a fan with misters to use at the wedding 💒 this weekend.

07/08/2023. The painter at Pelton let me know that the key broke in the lock. Our Pelton next door neighbor went over & locked the front door, but left the patio door open because he couldn’t find a 2nd key”. Meanwhile, my project manager is out of town.

My wonderful, brother-in-law offered to drive over to Pelton to demo the whole kitchen if I got a new one installed by IKEA!
07/05/2023. I had a nice shower 🧼🚿 packed up and drove to Pelton. I met up with the Termite person & he found some dry wood termites so I will need to have a tenting done. I trimmed trees and cut down some of the roses in the back. The painters are doing an excellent job. I also met up with the gardener who found a problem with the sprinkler system. I stopped at Costco for gas ⛽️ & got a bite to eat. I am very discouraged because it looks awful!!!

07/03/2023. I hiked with my friends at Ranch San Antonio (steps = 12.2K). I was VERY dehydrated and had to stop every 15 minutes. I made the mistake of hiking without my drink, because I usually don’t need it. Not so on this hike! I updated the FF web site. I binge watched “The Magicians”. It was cooler today & we still used our A/C! I also talked to my friend who is organizing a patio party! I finished the Rolodexes!
